In October 2020, the then President of the Bundesrat and Minister-President of Brandenburg, Dr Dietmar Woidke, suggested stepping up mutual cooperation to the Polish Senate by establishing a Friendship Group on both sides.
The cooperation between the Bundesrat and the Polish Senate has a long tradition. In particular, it encompasses regular exchanges on political issues both between the presidents of the two chambers and between members/senators.
Working method
As a general rule, the Friendship Groups come together once a year for a meeting that spans several days. These meetings are held alternately in Germany and Poland.
